Build Custom GPT of Any Creator’s Knowledge in 5 Minutes
Turn 200+ videos, posts, or newsletters into one GPT that gives you answers instantly.
Most people think building a Custom GPT is complicated. So they stick with public GPTs and miss its real power.
In reality, a Custom GPT is one of the most useful tools AI gives us. You can train one to act as a copywriter, advertiser, salesperson, even a lawyer or doctor. It can be almost anything.
But the real power lies somewhere else: creating a persona of a leader, mentor or creator you follow online.
Upload their transcripts, add the right prompt, and suddenly you have a GPT that answers as if it were that creator sharing their frameworks, their knowledge, their insights, on demand.
And this isn’t limited to YouTube. You can build GPTs from tweets, LinkedIn posts, Substack editions, or blog archives.
In this guide, I’ll show you how to do exactly that in under 5 minutes.
Let’s dive in.
For this tutorial, we’ll use Nick Serev as the example.
Here’s the GPT - https://chatgpt.com/g/g-68ab1bc1e8a88191b6afcadf78ca6859-nick-saraev
He’s one of my favorite YouTube creators. His channel is packed with insights on:
How to build an AI agency
What services actually work
How to land and scale with clients
Building and using AI agents
The catch? His videos are long-form (30+ minutes each) and there are 200+ of them. That’s hours of valuable knowledge—but almost impossible to digest in full.
That’s why a Custom GPT is so powerful. With transcripts + one good prompt, you can turn Nick’s entire body of work into a GPT persona you can query anytime.
Of course, this isn’t limited to Nick. You can do this with any creator who shares deep, source-driven insights. A few great examples:
Ali Abdaal → Productivity and systems
Matt Gray → Founder growth and scaling
Y Combinator → Startups and fundraising strategies
The best channels to use are the ones that deliver in-depth knowledge in a specific niche.
Here’s what you’ll need:
A ChatGPT Plus account (for Custom GPTs)
The YouTube channel (or specific videos) you want to capture
10–15 minutes of time
▸ Step 1: Get the Transcripts
You need transcripts of your creator’s videos before anything else.
You can do this two ways:
Single video → Paste the YouTube link on youtube-transcript.io and download the transcript.
Bulk videos from a channel →
Go to the Channel Info tab.
Paste the channel URL → click Get Channel Info.
This will give you the option to create a playlist of all videos from that channel
Copy that playlist and go to the Extract from Playlist tab
Paste the playlist → extract transcripts in bulk → download as text file
Tip: The tool gives you 25 free transcripts to start with (good enough for 10–25 videos). If you’re serious about scaling, upgrading for $10 is worth it.
That’s it, you now have the raw knowledge files to build your GPT.
▸ Step 2: Create Your Custom GPT
Now that you have the transcripts, it’s time to build the Custom GPT.
Open ChatGPT → Log into your account.
Go to GPTs → In the sidebar, click Explore GPTs, then hit Create.
Choose “Create” (not Configure) → This opens the space where you’ll add your instructions.
2.1 - Prompt 1
This is where you define who the GPT should act as.
Insert the creator’s name and their niche.
Prompt 1 (copy-paste):
I want you to act like [creator’s name]. Its my mentor / leader / creator that I follow in the [Niche]. I want to create and store their knowledge by providing you with data, documents, text files, sources, and content during our future conversations. In the future, I will ask you questions, and you must answer only from the information that I have provided to you about this person.
Example: “I want you to act like Nick Serev. It’s my mentor that I follow in the AI agency …..”
2.2 - Set Name and Profile Picture
After you paste the first prompt, ChatGPT will ask you to name your Custom GPT and add a profile picture.
This step is required , you cannot skip it.
Once you’ve done this, you’re ready to add the main instruction prompt.
2.3 - Add the Main Prompt + Upload Data
Paste the mega prompt (the main instruction set).
This is what tells the GPT how to act, react, and use the transcripts to fully capture the creator’s persona.
